Viagra is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction of men, characterized by the inability to get up or keep an erection. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual intercourse and during sexual stimulation. After the effects of the drug wear off, the condition returns to its original state.
Viagra is a phosphodiesterase-5inhibitor drug that is used to treat impotence among men. The “little blue pill” as most men call it, is an instant solution for sexually active men who cannot manage an erection by themselves.
Apart from its commonly known use for impotence, it is also an effective drug to treat a rare condition called pulmonary arterial hypertension by relaxing the pulmonary arterial wall and promoting decreased pulmonary resistance and pressure ensuring adequate blood flow to the lungs. This drug can also be used to treat altitude sickness and high-altitude pulmonary edema.
