Patients who have recently undergone corneal refractive surgery to improve vision find this drug helpful in relieving the pain and sensitivity to light.
NSAIDs work by inhibiting the production of pain substances that causes swelling. Aside from treatment of eye pain, it is also used in any pain or inflammation of the body in general. Whether the swelling is caused by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and even for minor aches, pains and fever caused by common infections.
Voltaren can also be used for treating migraines and dysmenorrhea and even mild to moderate post-operative or post-traumatic pain.
• May cause fatal heart problems as well as circulation disorders when taken for longer periods of time.
• Should not be used just before or after undergoing heart bypass surgery
• Ask you doctor before taking any medicine in combination with this drug.
Before taking Voltaren, check with your doctor especially if you previously have or is currently suffering from the following:
• Heart attack
• Stroke
• Blood clot
• Congestive heart failure
• High blood pressure
• Liver disorders
• Kidney problems
• Asthma
• Polyps in the nose
• Bleeding disorder
• Smoker
• Dehydration
• Recurring heartburn
• Ulcers
In adults, the usual dose ranges from 75 mg to 150 mg per day.
The tablet with immediate release is administered in three equally divided doses, taken with food, while the extended release tablet is administered once or twice daily with food or milk.
The recommended maximum daily dose of Diclofenac is 150 mg.
The use of Voltaren is not recommended in the presence or history of recent inflammatory disease of the stomach or intestine, for example gastric or intestinal ulcer, in liver failure or significant liver disease, in deteriorating kidney functions, in patients currently taking other inflammatory drugs, in cases of allergy to Diclofenac or any other of the ingredients of Voltaren.

Missed doses are considered missed. Leave it and take the next scheduled dosage. Do not overdose to compensate for the missed one. If you remember and still with enough time before the next one, take it, if not then proceed with your regular dosing schedule.
During unexpected and emergency situations, Call for help right away and notify your physician for such matter. You may contact a poison control center or have you taken to the nearest hospital for abrupt treatment; if the person is passed out and not breathing, call 911 or your local emergency response team.

• Exposure to sunlight as it can make your skin very sensitive to sunburn

The upset stomach is a common side effect of anti-inflammatory drugs. Taking the medication immediately after meals or with food or milk can reduce this.
Most common side effects include mild or moderate cramping, pain or discomfort in the abdomen or stomach, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness or lightheadedness, mild to moderate headache, heartburn, indigestion, nausea or vomiting.
Rare side effects of Voltaren are bitter taste or other changes in taste, bloating, flatulence or constipation, decrease or loss of appetite, fast or pounding heartbeat, redness of the face or neck, flushing, a general feeling of discomfort or illness, increased sensitivity of the eyes to light, increased sweating, irritation or dryness of the mouth, nervousness, anxiety, irritability, tremors or shaking, sleeping disorder, weight loss, unusual tiredness or weakness.
